CULTIVATION / HARVESTING

Farming is considered a cultural tradition passed down many generations from fathers to their sons, and even grandsons, with all the knowledge and practices handed down, to help the next generation carry on the family’s farming tradition.

Simple, traditional farming is relatively well understood all around the world, and what Kok Fah Technology Farm has done is incorporate automated machinery systems to its production chair, to help facilitate and speed up the farming process, whilst also helping improve farmer’s working conditions and lightening their workload.

With the assistance of the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), and integrating such machinery into its farming process, KFTF has shown to improve its overall production supply tremendously.

Machinery like the Automated Seeding Machine, and the Bale Dosage Bunker, are just a few of the equipment KFTF uses to help farmers complete their work tasks quicker and be more productive, which would otherwise take up 2 to 3 days longer to finish.

This makes the farming process very efficient. As only a limited amount of harvests can be achieved in a year, it is with machinery like these that enhance farmers increase their number of harvests, eventually bringing more revenue for the company.

Another feature at KFTF is its Greenhouse Nursery, where all the farm’s seeding are grown. This Pre-harvest stage is seamless, and plays a vital part in the farming process, as the delicate growth stage of the seeding must be stable with climate conditions kept stable.

If seedings are not properly taken care off at this point, then the weaker seeding is exposed to greater risks much later at the cultivation stage process.

Its latest addition in 2016 is the Hydroponics System Greenhouse, which is located just next to its retail market. This greenhouse showcases different methods of hydroponics systems used globally like NFT, DRF & DFT systems, together with a Microgreens section and a Vine crop, Auto-Drip irrigation area. This advanced research facility is meant to help KFTF search for alternatives to increase its production supply for Singapore.
